This past week, Google has continued its rapid rollout of new AI capabilities, with select users gaining access to a new "Search Live" feature within the AI Mode of Google Search. This development follows a series of major announcements at Google's I/O conference in May and signals a move towards a more interactive and conversational search experience.

The most significant new feature, "Search Live," allows users to engage in real-time voice conversations with Google's AI. This transforms the traditional text-based search into a dynamic dialogue, where users can ask questions and receive spoken answers, similar to a voice assistant. The feature is reportedly being tested with enrolled users on mobile devices.

In addition to "Search Live," Google has also begun to implement interactive graphs directly within AI Mode. Initially demonstrated with financial data, users can now ask for stock performance comparisons and receive dynamically generated, interactive charts. This allows for a more visual and data-rich search experience, where users can hover over different parts of the graph to get more detailed information.

These new features are part of a broader effort to integrate the powerful capabilities of Google's latest AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, across its products. This model, which also received a final, powerful upgrade this week, underpins the enhanced reasoning and multimodality of the new AI-powered search features.

The rollout of these features is ongoing, with wider availability expected in the coming weeks. They represent the next step in Google's vision for a more intuitive and intelligent search engine, building upon the "AI Overviews" that have already started appearing for many users. The continued integration of technologies like Project Astra, for visual understanding, and Project Mariner, for web-based task automation, are also anticipated to further enhance the capabilities of AI Mode in the near future.
